Margaret Luxamon Hotchkiss is a Seattle based movement and visual artist. Born in Bangkok, Thailand and adopted to the US as a toddler, Margaret’s love of movement began on Bainbridge Island, WA when she was two years old. Her work is driven by the persistent balance of joy and sorrow for those at the margins of mainstream culture, and in her experiences as a transnational Thai adoptee. Her affinity for the natural world resonates throughout her movement and visual art. Outside of rehearsal, she enjoys hiking and paddle boarding. She is grateful for opportunities to study dance at California State University, Long Beach; The San Francisco Conservatory of Dance; American Dance Festival, New York; and Strictly Seattle. A graduate of Cornish College of the Arts (B.F.A. Dance, 2012), she has performed work by Ohad Naharin, Wade Madsen and Alice Gosti. Her performance experience also includes Au Collective, MALACARNE and NOCCO Seattle. Margaret’s artistry is fluid and has led her to the theater stage in productions that include M. Butterfly by David Henry Hwang at Arts West and The Brothers Paranormal by Prince Gomolvilas at Theater Off Jackson. Her work has been selected for the Seattle International Dance Festival and also includes We, Too! produced by SiS Productions.
